On Thursday, President Joe Biden was briefed by members of his national security team in the Oval Office on Ukraine. Ukraine is one of Biden’s top priorities, and he made sure to emphasize this during his remarks.
In addition, he spoke of the importance of enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
When asked about his Administration’s move to waive 26 federal laws to expedite the building of the border wall in the Rio Grande Valley, Biden took immediate action upon taking office by signing an executive order to halt construction on the wall initiated by his predecessor.
However, this has resulted in a surge of illegal immigration across US borders; as such, more than 7 million undocumented individuals have entered since Biden’s inauguration.
In August, Maria Bartiromo reported that the Biden administration had purchased parts of former President Trump’s border wall for $2 million, a fraction of their original value estimated at $300 million.
Now, two months later, the Biden administration has been constructing additional sections of the border wall in Texas.
After two and a half years of open borders and seven million illegal immigrants entering the United States, it is evident that President Trump was correct in his assertions regarding immigration reform.
Despite this admission and waiving 26 federal laws to build the wall in South Texas, Biden claims he is attempting to stop construction on the new border wall.
This statement directly conflicts with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ remarks concerning the border wall.
“There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas,” Alejandro Mayorkas, the DHS secretary, said in an announcement.
President Biden criticized Congress for their decision to continue construction of the border wall.
“The border wall money was appropriated for the border wall. I tried to get them to reappropriate – to redirect the money – they didn’t. They wouldn’t. And in the mean time there is nothing under the law other than they have to use the money for what it was appropriated. I can’t stop that!” Biden said.
“Do you believe the border wall works?” a reporter in the Oval Office asked Biden.
“No,” Biden said.
President Biden defends moving to build border barriers in a portion of the Rio Grande Valley, saying funding was already appropriated and he “can't stop that” despite asking Congress to redirect the money.
