‘Made Us Targets of Assassination’ – Justice Alito Says He Knows Who Leaked Dobbs Draft

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito says he thinks he knows who leaked the Dobbs decision that led to protests at the homes of the conservative judges and the man who wanted to assassinate Brett Kavanaugh and actually showed up at his house armed and with burglary tools. Alito says that person put the lives of the justices in danger. So did Merrick Garland when he ordered law enforcement not to make arrests at the homes of the conservative justices, which is a crime.

Via Politico:

“The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.”

Alito wrote:

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

“This made us targets of assassination.”

The Wall Street Journal reported:

Justice Alito says the marshal “did a good job with the resources that were available to her” and agrees that the evidence was insufficient for a public accusation. “I personally have a pretty good idea who is responsible, but that’s different from the level of proof that is needed to name somebody,” he says. He’s certain about the motive: “It was a part of an effort to prevent the Dobbs draft . . . from becoming the decision of the court. And that’s how it was used for those six weeks by people on the outside—as part of the campaign to try to intimidate the court.”

That campaign included unlawful assemblies outside justices’ homes, and that wasn’t the worst of it. “Those of us who were thought to be in the majority, thought to have approved my draft opinion, were really targets of assassination,” Justice Alito says. “It was rational for people to believe that they might be able to stop the decision in Dobbs by killing one of us.” On June 8, an armed man was arrested outside the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh; the suspect was later charged with attempted assassination and has pleaded not guilty.

From The New York Post

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito revealed Friday that he has a “pretty good idea” of the identity of the person behind the leak of his draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade last year.

Alito, who wrote for the majority in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, told the Wall Street Journal that the unprecedented breach “created an atmosphere of suspicion and distrust” inside the nation’s highest court.

“We worked through it, and last year we got our work done. This year, I think, we’re trying to get back to normal operations as much as we can … But it was damaging,” Alito said of the unauthorized release of his draft opinion to Politico in May 2022, more than a month before the final Dobbs ruling came down.

An investigation into the leak was ordered by Chief Justice John Roberts, but the marshal of the Supreme Court, Gail Curley, said in January she had been unable to definitively determine the leaker’s identity

“I personally have a pretty good idea who is responsible, but that’s different from the level of proof that is needed to name somebody,” Alito told the Journal.

  1. Did Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts turn evidence and I.D. of the Suspected Leaker to the marshal of the Supreme Court, Gail Curley, for investigation?
    Do a real investigation!!!

  2. Here is how corrupt things have got.

The FBI should have investigated and charged the person who leaked the decision. Instead they stood by and let the Supreme Court do it, which is a breach of the Constitution. The Justice Department is to judge crimes, not investigate them.

Even worse, we know this was an inside job. So, at some level you have suspects investigating the crime.

Finally, Alito says he thinks he knows who committed this crime. Not reporting what he thinks he knows is obstruction of justice. But then if he reports it to the FBI/DOJ what’s going to happen? They have happily stood by while the Justices did their job and ignored the crimes putting the Justices and their families at risk.
