Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Introduces Resolution to Censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib for Anti-Semitic Behavior

On Thursday, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduced a resolution to censure Michigan Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib for engaging in antisemitic activity, expressing sympathy with terrorist organizations, and leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol Complex alongside radical pro-Hamas groups.

Rep. Greene took the floor to present her case, outlining a comprehensive array of charges against Rep. Tlaib.

According to Greene, Tlaib has made statements which could be interpreted as sympathizing with and advocating for terrorist organizations, expressed antipathy towards Israel, and taken actions that have obstructed the official business of the United States Congress.

The resolution covers events from 2019 through the present day in order to form a complete portrait of Tlaib’s behavior which is deemed anti-American and anti-Semitic by Greene.

The first point raised by Greene relates back to May of 2019, when she asserts that Tlaib exhibited an attitude of jubilation concerning the Holocaust and “felt a calming feeling when reflecting on the genocide of millions of Jews.”

In 2020, Tlaib also retweeted a post captioned “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which Greene pointed out has been adopted by Hamas and implies calls for both Israel’s elimination and death for all Jews.

In his piece, Greene highlights Representative Rashida Tlaib’s ongoing criticism of Israel, citing a September 2022 statement from the Congresswoman and member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus in which she asserted that “it is impossible to proclaim progressive values while simultaneously supporting the Israeli government’s apartheid system.”

On October 18, 2023, Rep. Rashida Tlaib led an insurrection at the United States Capitol Complex which put members of Congress, their staff, and visitors at risk by shutting down elevators and stairwells and obstructing official business in both the House and the Senate.

It was reported that a group of left-wing activists had entered the US Capitol to demand a ceasefire in Gaza while simultaneously denouncing Israel.

During this event, flags were hung from the rails of the Capitol and anti-Israel chants could be heard throughout the rotunda.

Tlaib has been accused of failing to denounce Hamas terrorist actions while advocating policies that could further dehumanize and cause suffering for Israeli people.

It is therefore essential that any future action taken by her or any other lawmaker is done with due consideration for its potential impact on all involved parties.

In her address, Greene stated that Jewish Voice for Peace, an organization recognized by the Anti-Defamation League as a “radical anti-Israel activist group,” was responsible for organizing the insurrection.

Additionally, she noted that members of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a far-left non-profit organization, were present and mentioned that several insurrectionists had participated in a group messaging chat called Global Intifada – an Arabic term indicating violent uprisings.

In an X post, Greene wrote, “She must be held accountable and censured.”
