Trump Likens U.S. to ‘Third-World Nation’ with Buttigieg as Transportation Sec

On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump took a trip to East Palestine, Ohio and took truckloads of clean drinking water and supplies to residents suffering in the town.

Earlier this month, a train carrying hazardous material derailed and the toxic chemicals were released into the environment, which created an ecological disaster.

Trump told residents that “We’re like a third-world nation” with Pete Buttigieg as Transportation Secretary.

“We’re like a third-world nation, and this is an example of it, the breakdown. Our whole country is breaking down,” Trump he declared after buying lunch for the police department, fire department, and residents at the local McDonald’s.

He also asserted that Buttigieg “should have been here a long time ago.”

It wasn’t until AFTER Trump’s visit that Buttigieg finally made an appearance, and even then, he refused to take questions. Neither President Joe Biden, nor Vice President Kamala Harris have taken a trip to East Palestine either.

When asked about Buttigieg blaming him for the train derailment, citing a proposed rule on ECP brakes that was withdrawn in 2018, the former president replied, “It had nothing to do with it.”

Trump declared that the Biden transportation secretary really needs to “look at the airports, because I have people that are taking planes, and they’re delayed. They’re waiting in an airport for three days. It’s crazy what’s happening.”

On Thursday, Buttigieg appeared on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” and told host Joy Reid that it was “ironic” for Trump to visit after he took “down regulations” in 2018.

He claimed, “It was definitely an ironic thing to do. You take down regulations, you water down regulations, you weaken the power of the administration to deal with freight railroad companies, and then you show up wanting to be a great friend of the people who have been impacted by a rail disaster.”

Buttigieg added, “You know, this is somebody who, as far as I know, never went to a derailment site when one of those happens on his watch. And there were thousands — even ones with fatalities. Never even sent his Transportation Secretary to go. Now that it’s campaign season, I guess things are different. We were there to work. We were there to get things done.”

What a joke. He didn’t get anything done. He ONLY made an appearance because Trump went and made it look even worse that he hadn’t been there yet.

Buttigieg refused to even take any questions:
