Fans Slam Rihanna as ‘Biggest Sellout’ over Halftime Performance: ‘How’s Kaepernick Boycott Going?’

Singer Rihanna starlined the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday. While many hailed her for putting on an entire show while pregnant, which she revealed for the first time during her performance, other viewers are blasting her as a “sellout” for breaking her Super Bowl boycott.

Fans claims she abandoned her principles by performing in 2023, after refusing to perform in 2018 when  former 49ers quarteback Colin Kaepernick launched his kneeling campaign in protest of the National Anthem over police brutality.

At the time, People reported that a source close to Rihanna confirmed that she was offered an opportunity to perform at Super Bowl 2019, alongside Maroon 5, but turned it down in solidarity with Kaepernick.

“Yes they asked her and yes, she declined,” the source revealed, adding that Kaepernick and the #TakeAKnee movement “likely” played part in her decision.

When she boycotted the game, virtue-signaling celebrities jumped on board. For example, liberal nutcase Amy Schumer posted to Instagram at the time, “Wouldn’t it be so cool if @adamlevine and @maroon5 stepped down too? What do you guys think?”

The very next day, Schumer declared that she would also be boycotting by refusing to perform in Super Bowl commercials. She then called on Maroon 5 to also boycott.

“Friday thought. I wonder why more white players aren’t kneeling. Once you witness the truly deep inequality and endless racism people of color face in our country, not to mention the policy brutality and murders. Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit?” the feminist comedian wrote.

“I think it would be cool if @maroon5 backed out of [the] super bowl like @badgalriri Did,” she added, “told my reps I wouldn’t do a Super Bowl commercial this year.”

Amid the excitement of fans applauding Rihanna’s performance, the naysayers’ voices have broken through to condemn the end of her boycott:

One use wrote, “Rihanna is the biggest sellout of the past 5 years, I support Kaepernick in 2019 so I decline to do the SB halftime show, funny how people change up, I’m not being woke, she’s showing how much she actually cared about Kaepernick being blacklisted, not at all!”

Another criticized the singer for being “out of shape, limited vocal range, generally dull sounding. Better at marketing herself than performing.”

I wonder if the Twitter user knew that she was pregnant at the time of their post, as they commented on her being “out of shape.”

They added, “BTW, how’s that Kaepernick boycott going?”

Joseph Dear tweeted, “Can’t wait to see Rihanna perform the halftime show and remind us all that the 2019 boycotts over Colin Kaepernick were largely just about being on the right side of #TheCurrentThing.”

  1. I think the majority of people are over the Colin Kaepernick story. If it was so important, the fake news would be jumping all over it.

  2. Fck Colon Kaperdick & Amy Shoomer. They’re two irrelevant losers.
I wish they would crawl back under the rock from whence they came.
