Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing has revealed Thursday that Twitter canceled its deal with the media company to stream its acclaimed documentary “What is a Woman?” for free on the social media platform due to alleged “misgendering.”
The Daily Wire sought out a deal with Twitter after Elon Musk took over the platform and promised dedication to free speech. The hope was that streaming “What is a Woman?” would allow more people to watch this film on its one-year anniversary.
Initially, Twitter had seemed enthusiastic about the idea, even offering The Daily Wire an advertising package for purchase in order to show off the movie. However, upon reviewing the film, everything changed and Twitter labeled it as “hateful conduct” because of “misgendering.”
Released last summer, “What is a Woman?” has been watched by people from all around the world in over 70 countries.
Despite being ignored by legacy media reviewers, audiences scored it 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and it quickly became one of the most popular movies ever watched at home.
What made this documentary so special was how it sparked a movement against gender change surgeries performed on minors – leading at least twelve states thus far to ban such practices.

Twitter’s censorship of this important piece of pro-free speech content comes as no surprise following Linda Yaccarino’s appointment as CEO earlier this month.
She is an NBC Universal executive and World Economic Forum official who has worried conservatives who were hoping Musk would provide equal access to both sides of political debate regardless of preference or opinion.
“[Musk] is not beholden to conservatives. He has the right to run his business as he sees fit. But if Twitter is going to throttle one side of one of the most important debates facing society, it cannot claim to champion free speech,” Boreing said. “I hope [Musk] will reconsider this terrible policy.”
The Daily Wire will still stream “What is a Woman?” at 8:00 p.m. ET Thursday on its Twitter page, and a Daily Wire Twitter space will start 30 minutes before the film begins.
