‘The View’ Hosts Ecstatic About Trump Receiving Letter From DOJ in Jan. 6 Probe

Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he received a letter from Special Counsel Jack Smith stating that he is the target of a January 6 grand jury investigation. This statement was met with discussion and debate from various partisan figures in politics, including Whoopi Goldberg of ABC’s ‘The View’.

On the show, Goldberg expressed her opinion that Trump deserves to be “behind bars”. She argued that no one should be exempt from being held accountable for their actions, regardless of political power or influence. She continued by saying that if someone else had done what Trump did, they would not have been granted any special privileges.

In response to this declaration, co-host Meghan McCain suggested that the incoming Biden administration could potentially use this situation as an opportunity to bring healing to the nation. She also made reference to previous pardons issued by former presidents Obama and Bush towards individuals who were charged with similar crimes as Trump has been accused of committing.

Co-host Sunny Hostin disagreed and said she thought it would set a dangerous precedent if no action was taken against Trump; adding that all citizens must adhere to laws and regulations set forth by the government. Hostin went on to say “We cannot ignore what happened here…there are consequences for everyone’s actions.”

Below is a partial transcript of the rest of the conversation:

Goldberg: “So, there is breaking news. We just learned that you-know-who has received a letter from Special Counsel Jack Smith notifying him that he’s a target in the DoJ’s grand jury probe of efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Lawmakers are reacting. Let’s see the clip.”

[Clip starts]
HOYER: “Former President Trump has done repeatedly things that call upon law enforcement at every level to look at what he’s done because so much of it is certainly questionable at best and illegal at worst.”
(…)
Goldman: “This appears to be the culmination of it, and I expect Donald Trump to be indicted in the near future.”
[Clip ends]

BEHAR: “Again. Again.
(Applause)

Goldberg: “I mean, you can clap, yeah, sure. It’s almost like a weekly TV show.”

BEHAR: “Yeah, indictment du jour.”

Goldberg: “Indicted du jour. We don’t have all the specifics yet, so what is your — “

BEHAR: “Well, one of the things is he’s not going to show up at the grand jury because he’s incapable of not lying. He can’t not lie. So they never put him on the stand. You know, we’ve seen a lot of ‘Law & Orders’ where they would say, ‘I would never put my client on the stand because he will perjure himself.’ That’s one thing. The other thing that struck me was funny, he wrote in his post on his TRUTH Social thing, ‘On Sunday night, while I was with my family, deranged Jack Smith, the prosecutor with Joe Biden’s DoJ, sent a letter — again, it was Sunday night! — stating that I am a target of the January 6th grand jury investigation.’ He was so upset that it was Sunday night while he’s home reading his upside-down Bible. (Laughter) They’re busy bothering him on a Sunday night. How dare they? He’s so religious. He’s so — oh, it’s pathetic.”

HOSTIN: “I hadn’t read that. You know, what I will say, we don’t know what the charges are going to be. We know that the last indictment led to 37 counts and that was just a documents case, which is a really easy case to prove. But the worst thing for a defendant or a prospective defendant is to get that target letter. You either want to cooperate or you want to be — you know, turn state’s evidence and testify in front of the grand jury, or you’re the target, and so at this point, because he’s the target, the likelihood of indictment is about 100%. And I just — yeah, I heard a little clapping over there.

(Applause)

And I only know this because I’ve sent these target letters.”

WATCH:

“A target letter from federal prosecutors to Trump makes clear that prosecutors are focused on Trump’s actions in the investigation into overturning the 2020 election – and not just of those around him who tried to stop his election loss,” CNN reported.

“Justice Department regulations allow for prosecutors to notify subjects of an investigation that they have become a target. Often a notification that a person is a target is a strong sign an indictment could follow, but it is possible the recipient is not ultimately charged. Those notifications aren’t required, but prosecutors have the discretion to notify subjects that they have become a target. Once informed, a target has the opportunity to present evidence or testify to the grand jury if they choose,” the outlet added.

Trump said he received the letter on Sunday and that he expects to face both an arrest and an indictment.

Smith is also going after Trump over his handling of classified documents that were located at Mar-a-Lago last year.

  1. I guess the sluts of the shit, I mean View, forgot about this.
Flashback: After Bill Ayers bombed the U.S. Capitol building, Ayers hosted a fundraiser for Barack Obama in Ayers’s living room. Ayers also got hired as a college professor. The left doesn’t find this to be even the slightest bit embarrassing or shameful.
DemonRATS have a short memory when it comes to their crimes.
